Organized academy The Egyptian Arts Center in Rome, headed by Dr. Rania Yahya, held a distinguished cultural evening celebrating the International Arabic Language Day, in the presence and honor of His Excellency Ambassador Bassam Rady, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Italy.

The celebration witnessed a high-level presence of ambassadors from Arab countries, a number of Italian and foreign diplomats, along with members of the Italian Senate and Parliament, and a group of cultural and artistic figures and those interested in Arab culture.

The ceremony included the opening of a distinguished exhibition of the creations of Arabic calligraphy by the Iraqi artist Amjad Rifai, which displayed a group of artistic paintings that embodied the aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy in its various types, including: Kufic, Diwani, Thuluth, Ruq’a, Naskh, and Persian.

The works varied between Qur’anic verses, prophetic hadiths, Arabic proverbs and sayings, and texts of a spiritual and artistic nature, which reflected the depth of Arab identity and its aesthetics.

The exhibition concluded by honoring the artist Amjad Rifai, who gave a comprehensive lecture that dealt with the history of Arabic calligraphy and its development throughout the ages, explaining its artistic and cultural value and its civilizational influence.

Ambassador Bassam Rady gave a speech in which he expressed his pride in Arabic calligraphy, as an integral part of the components of Arab and Islamic civilization, stressing its importance as a fine art that combines deep meaning, visual beauty, and artistic precision.

Dr. Rania Yahya also welcomed the large attendance from the Italian and Arab sides, and praised the continued support for the activities of the Academy, which is Egypt’s cultural beacon abroad, stressing that celebrating this day reinforces the importance of Arab identity and its cultural richness.

The audience enjoyed the oriental atmosphere that embodied the spirit of Arab identity, including music, arts, and traditional cuisine, which gave the evening a distinctive cultural character that was appreciated by everyone.

This celebration comes within the framework of commemorating International Arabic Language Day, which falls on December 18 of each year, the date on which the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution No. 3190 to include the Arabic language among the official and working languages ​​of the United Nations in 1973.
