revealed study Recent scientific research has shown a clear link between diversifying exercise and a lower risk of premature death, suggesting that limiting one type of physical activity to one type of physical activity may not be the best choice for long-term health, according to Science Alert.
Study: Diversifying exercise reduces the risk of premature death by 19%.
Researchers from the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health in the United States analyzed data from more than 111,000 people, collected over a period of about 30 years, comparing the exercise patterns reported by participants with death rates during the follow-up period.
The results showed that people who did a variety of physical activities had a 19 percent lower risk of death compared to those who committed to limited types of exercise, assuming the total time devoted to physical activity was similar between the two groups.
The researchers explained that these results support the idea of encouraging individuals to combine several types of exercise, in addition to maintaining an appropriate level of physical activity, as this has a potential role in reducing the risk of early death. Multiple factors were also taken into account, including lifestyle, dietary habits, and demographic characteristics, although the nature of the study does not prove a direct causal relationship.
The team noted that diversifying exercises helps work different groups of muscles in the body, which may have a positive impact on overall health in a more comprehensive way. The data also confirmed that increasing physical activity in general is associated with a longer lifespan, with the benefit being observed to stabilize at 20 hours of exercise per week, as exceeding this rate did not achieve a noticeable additional effect.
The activities monitored by the study included various exercises such as swimming, cycling, climbing stairs, and daily physical work such as mowing the lawn, which confirms that regular movement, whatever its type, remains an essential factor in promoting health and longevity.
