The new train comes within the framework of the contract concluded with the Spanish company Talgo, which includes the supply of 6 luxury trains, in addition to an additional train obtained at no cost, bringing the total number of trains to 7 trains.
This deal falls within the Ministry of Transport’s plan aimed at developing the railway system and improving the level of services provided to passengers, by introducing modern units that keep pace with international standards.

One train consists of a modern tractor, a buffet car, 5 first-class cars, and 8 second-class cars, for a total of 15 cars. It also includes advanced technological equipment that includes advanced vibration-absorbing systems, display screens, Wi-Fi wireless Internet service, and surveillance cameras, as well as modern restrooms designated for people of determination.
The Railway Authority has already started operating a number of Talgo trains on the Cairo-Alexandria and Cairo-Aswan lines, and these trains have received significant demand from passengers, due to the distinguished level of service they provide and a more comfortable travel experience.
