The Syrian news agency “SANA” reported that Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa met with a delegation from the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, on the sidelines of the Syrian-Egyptian Economic Forum, which was held in the capital, Damascus.

According to the agency, during the meeting, the prospects for economic and investment cooperation between Syria and Egypt were discussed, as President Al-Sharaa affirmed his country’s readiness to embark on a new phase of investment and reconstruction, in light of the positive changes taking place in the Syrian arena.

The Syrian President extended a greeting of thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian people for embracing the Syrian refugees during the years of war, saying: “I would like to extend my great thanks to the Egyptian people for their generous reception of the Syrians during the war.”

Al-Sharaa praised the generosity and chivalry of the Egyptians, stressing that what they provided to the Syrians was not alien to their morals, and added: “One of the places where the Syrians felt most comfortable was Egypt, where they were among their families.”

The Syrian President indicated that his country has passed difficult stages, especially after the lifting of sanctions, considering that this step opened wide doors for cooperation and investment, and contributed to accelerating the wheel of economic recovery despite the complications of the previous stage.
