British police announced that they had opened an investigation into a security incident that occurred near the Israeli embassy in the capital, London, after finding a number of objects dumped in the surrounding area, which prompted them to strengthen security measures at the site.

The police said in a statement that the Counter-Terrorism Unit in London was aware of a video clip circulating online overnight, showing a group announcing its intention to target the embassy using drones loaded with dangerous materials.

The embassy was not attacked

The statement added that despite the confirmation that the embassy was not subjected to any attack, the authorities are urgently continuing their investigations to verify the authenticity of the video, and the extent of a possible link between it and the objects found in Kensington Gardens.

The police indicated that they imposed a security cordon in the area, and prevented the public from entering Kensington Gardens and the surrounding areas as a precaution.

The police concluded their statement by emphasizing that at this stage there is no indication of an increased risk to public safety.
