According to the source, the resumption of flights represents the first stage of a comprehensive plan to completely restart the airport, with expectations that other companies will join in the coming weeks, which enhances the chances of a broader return to air activity in the coming period.
Sudanese citizens launched a national initiative aimed at supporting the Sudanese Airlines Company by purchasing 10 new aircraft with crowd funding, in which Sudanese inside and outside the country participate, along with friends of Sudan around the world.
The initiative called for opening an official account at the Central Bank of Sudan under the supervision and signature of a trio that includes a member of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Yasser Al-Atta, the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Jibril Ibrahim, and the Director General of the Sudanese Company, Mazen Al-Awad, in order to ensure complete transparency and direct contributions towards the primary goal of modernizing the company’s fleet.
