Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment, held a meeting with a number of leaders of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Capital, in the presence of a number of leaders of the Ministry of Local Development.
Local development: Simplifying procedures for licensing public shops and providing reductions in fees
The meeting witnessed a review of the latest developments in the ongoing coordination between the two ministries regarding steps to facilitate and simplify the procedures for issuing licenses for public and commercial stores and various activities in implementation of the directives of the Prime Minister regarding the necessity of digitizing and governing the procedures for issuing licenses, unifying them, and simplifying them in cooperation with all concerned authorities such as the Civil Defense, the National Food Safety Authority, and other authorities, in addition to making the service for issuing public store licenses available on the Egypt Digital Platform.
The Minister of Local Development affirmed the Ministry’s keenness to simplify and facilitate the procedures for the public store licensing system and facilitate the process of submitting citizen applications from shop owners in the various governorates of the Republic, which contributes to creating a more easy and transparent business environment that supports the country’s national economy and increases employment and growth opportunities in various sectors.
Dr. Manal Awad indicated that the recent period witnessed the holding of intensive meetings in the presence of all representatives of the relevant authorities, members of the Public Stores Committee, to review a number of procedures and update the public store system, with regard to the documents required for licenses and the necessary requirements, and to shorten the necessary steps for submitting applications to citizens so that they can complete the licensing procedures easily, while providing financial reductions in payment, while making it possible to collect fees digitally through the public store licenses issuance centers in the technology centers, which contributes to shortening the time of issuing approvals by specifying time periods for each. A stage until obtaining final approval and facilitating the process for citizens and shop owners.
The meeting also discussed areas of cooperation between the two ministries with regard to facilitating and facilitating the work cycle in the services provided by technology centers to citizens in order to make it easier for them, as well as facilitating access to the local services most requested by citizens in a digital form to reduce crowding in technology centers in neighborhoods, cities and centers.
For its part, the delegation of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology affirmed the Ministry’s keenness to provide all the necessary support and assistance required to the Ministry of Local Development in all joint files and to benefit from modern technology, digital transformation and the Digital Egypt platform, as well as providing the necessary technical support and training to human cadres working in various files in a way that contributes to simplifying and facilitating local services provided to citizens in various governorates.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Khaled Qasim, Assistant Minister for Environment and Community Development from the Ministry of Local Development, Major General Majdi Al-Abraq, Head of the Legal Sector, and Counselor Walid Al-Boushi, Legal Advisor to the Ministry, in the presence of a delegation from the Ministry of Communications headed by Engineer Mahmoud Badawi, Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation, and a number of leaders.
