A painful incident I witnessed Port Said GovernorateAfter an elderly man named Mahmoud Abbas Muhammad Othman Jawish, known as Atef, who was 75 years old, was bitten by a group of stray dogs, which led to his death from his injuries.

And revealed The victim’s familyThe incident occurred near the Port Said Culture Palace, where the elderly man was carrying a bag containing meat that he had bought, and on his way back to his home, he was attacked by a group of dogs, ranging from 5 to 6 dogs, and tore his clothes and cut off his hands and feet, causing severe bleeding that covered the ground.
The family added that the family quickly transferred him to a hospital in Port Said Governorate, and it was found that he had a deep wound in the hand, and several deep wounds in the legs, especially the left leg, as a result of the dogs’ fangs. First aid was provided to him inside the emergency department without him being detained in the hospital, with the family instructed to wash the wounds with soap and water, spray them with disinfectant, and administer treatment, then he returned to his home.
The family explained that the elderly person’s condition worsened after his return, and he bleeding again, so he was transferred by ambulance to the hospital, after receiving only one dose of the serum, but the dog bites and severe bleeding caused the heart muscle to stop, and he died.
The family of the deceased confirmed that they do not demand that dogs be killed or harmed, but after they turned into an imminent danger and took the life of their father, it became possible for them to kill children, adults and children, demanding that dogs be collected in areas far from residential blocks.
They pointed out that the phenomenon is witnessing a wide spread in Port Said Governorate, as stray dogs are no longer individuals, but rather groups traveling in convoys and attacking citizens in a large number of streets.

Family members narrated that one of their relatives was also bitten by a dog in another incident, but he survived after obtaining the serum, while the deceased’s daughter confirmed that the dogs nearly killed her and her children, demanding urgent intervention, describing the situation as a catastrophic crisis that threatens the lives of citizens, and requires immediate action to provide safe places outside the city to collect dogs and protect the people.
