The Supreme Pontiff explained in his teaching that the season of Advent is an invitation to read the signs of the times with spiritual awareness and actual preparation for the coming of Christ, stressing that Christian hope is not a passive wait, but rather a participation in God’s work, history, and dreams toward humanity.

The Holy Father added: Hope is that we participate, because Jesus involves us with him, and asks that we work alongside him, to search for God in the realities of daily life, in the issues of the world, and in its beauty.

The Pope of the Catholic Church cited the biography of Italian Blessed Alberto Marvelli, who was famous for his social service during World War II, highlighting his deep commitment to helping the wounded and displaced, and his involvement in public work despite the challenges and risks that ended with his assassination at the age of twenty-eight.

The chief priest emphasized that Marvelli embodies the model of a young man whose life has become a testimony that serving the Kingdom of God generates joy even in the midst of adversity.
