Recently, new leaks have emerged about the smart TVs that Sony is preparing to launch. Initially, The Walkman Blog revealed that Sony had registered a new patent called True RGB in Canada and Japan several months ago.
Although the name alone does not explain much, the patent documents clearly reveal Sony’s intention to use this technology exclusively in televisions.
True RGB uses blue, green and red LEDs to increase brightness and improve contrast ratios and color accuracy compared to traditional LED technologies.

According to a source on the Bilibili platform called Salivaxiu Zhang, True RGB technology will appear for the first time in three models of the Bravia 7 II series and another three of the Bravia 9 II.
Leaks indicate that the new models will include 75- and 85-inch sizes for both series, in addition to a 65-inch version of the Bravia 7 II, and a 98-inch version of the Bravia 9 II.
The information says that the Bravia 7 II devices will rely on 5,100 Mini LED local dimming zones to provide a brightness ranging between 2,000 and 2,500 nits.
In contrast, the Bravia 9 II devices will have 15,000 dimming zones, allowing access to a brightness of up to 4,000 nits.
Sony is expected to unveil the Bravia 7 II and Bravia 9 II series in early 2026. Based on the company’s previous plans, the Bravia 5 series, which is available in several sizes, including 55 and 65 inches, is also likely to be updated. These releases may coincide with the date when Samsung plans to unveil new OLED models.
