The Directorate of Education in Cairo, under the patronage of Dr. Hemat Ismail Abu Kaila, Director of the Directorate, announced the adoption of the value of respecting the elders and kindness to the young within the “Our Values, Our Days Are Sweeter” initiative, which the Directorate is implementing with the aim of consolidating moral values, promoting positive behavior within schools, and building generations that enjoy awareness, responsibility, and the spirit of cooperation and belonging.
Allocating segments on school radio to talk about respecting the elderly
This came within the framework of the Cairo Directorate of Education’s keenness to ensure that our schools are an integrated educational environment that produces students with morals before degrees.
The director of the directorate confirmed that consolidating the value of respecting the elderly and kindness to the young comes from the school’s role in instilling the principles of compassion and mutual appreciation among members of the school community, which contributes to preparing a generation that respects the experiences of those who came before it and cares for those who are younger than it, in an image that reflects the morals of authentic Egyptian society.
She explained that this value is directly reflected in the behavior of students within the school, and contributes to:
- Promoting a spirit of appreciation and commitment towards teachers and the elderly.
- Spreading a culture of compassion and tolerance among students.
- Helping younger students and providing support to them within the school.
- Building relationships based on mutual respect and cooperation.
The First Undersecretary of the Ministry also confirmed that respect for the elderly and kindness to the young represent a fundamental pillar in the success of the educational process, as they contribute to creating a school environment dominated by discipline and friendliness, promoting good role models in teacher and student behavior, and developing a sense of social responsibility among students, as well as supporting psychological stability within the school community.
The director of the directorate indicated the implementation of a group of activities and events within schools to activate this value, including allocating segments on the school radio to talk about the importance of respecting the elderly and showing kindness to the young, organizing seminars and artistic and expressive activities that reflect this value in daily situations, as well as launching competitions to choose student models distinguished in positive behavior and cooperation.
It is worth noting that the “With our values, our days are sweeter” initiative aims to build a generation capable of positive interaction with society, based on morals, hard work, and love of the country. When respect and compassion prevail among school members, it turns into a safe educational environment that produces good citizens who contribute to the nation’s renaissance.
