Artist Mohamed Sobhi topped the search engines on Google, after expressing his opinion about the movie Aren’t you? Starring Mona Zaki, which is currently showing in cinemas, is the work that deals with the biography of the star of the East, Umm Kulthum.
Mohamed Sobhi’s opinion sparked a state of controversy and widespread interaction across social networking sites, which contributed to the high rates of searches for him, especially with the film’s association with a major artistic and historical figure who enjoys wide public interest.
Mohamed Sobhi attacks Mona Zaki
The artist Mohamed Sobhi said in television statements that he blames the artist Mona Zaki for presenting the biography of Star of the East, Umm Kulthum, in the movie Al-Sit, explaining: I blame my student and beloved Mona Zaki for presenting the biography of Umm Kulthum. I may be offered a great movie or play, but if it is contrary to the truth, I will not present it, and there was no one as generous as Umm Kulthum.
He added that he attended one of Umm Kulthum’s concerts while he was studying in middle school, and there was someone who wanted to sit in his place, but he refused, and when Umm Kulthum learned about the matter, she asked him to sit in the front rows, saying that she was singing and looking at him, and after the concert ended, she gave him an envelope in which he found 50 pounds.
Mohamed Sobhi concluded his speech by emphasizing his rejection of any distortion of major Egyptian symbols, stressing the necessity of presenting artists’ biographies in a way that focuses on their artistic achievements, and avoiding dealing with their personal lives, in order to preserve the historical truth and value of ancient Egyptian art.
Amr Adeeb defends Mona Zaki
For his part, the journalist Amr Adeeb defended the movie The Six starring the artist Mona Zaki, stressing that it was being subjected to an unjustified attack, and sent a message to the artist Mohamed Sobhi, who considered that Egyptian art was subject to a conspiracy, saying: Mona Zaki will create a conspiracy against Egyptian art, Professor Mohamed? Synergy Company, director Waheed Hamed, and Ahmed Murad…they are plotting against Egyptian art.
Adeeb added that Sobhi’s statements came at a time when he was trying to cover up a personal dispute, continuing: “You wanted to cover up your driver’s problem, after you insulted him and wiped the floor with him.”
