Vivo officially announces the S50 and S50 Pro mini phones in China as the company’s latest mid-range phones, offering updated designs and noticeable upgrades in specifications compared to the previous generation.
The Vivo S50 phone comes with a slightly smaller 6.59-inch screen compared to its predecessor, with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor that provides stronger performance. In contrast, the S50 Pro mini maintains its compact size with a 6.31-inch screen, and gets a bigger upgrade with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor.
The new phones rely on AMOLED screens with FHD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, with a 50-megapixel front camera, along with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor integrated under the screen.
Vivo supports the two phones with IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistance standards, and also provides them with large 6500 mAh batteries with Si/C technology with support for 90-watt fast wired charging. The S50 Pro mini phone features the addition of 40W wireless charging support.

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor in the S50 phone is expected to provide a clear jump in performance compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor in the S30 series, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 in the Pro mini version provides higher processing power than the Dimensity 9300+ processor previously used.
Vivo allows the two phones to be configured with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X random access memory and an internal storage capacity of up to 512 GB of UFS 4.1 type.
The imaging system in the two phones is similar, as each includes a 50-megapixel main camera with an IMX921 sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with an IMX882 sensor with 3x optical zoom, in addition to an 8-megapixel wide lens. Both phones run the OriginOS 6 interface based on Android 16 straight out of the box.
The Vivo S50 phone is available in white, blue, purple and black colors, with a price starting at 2,999 Chinese yuan for the 12/256 GB version, and reaching 3,599 yuan for the 16/512 GB version. As for the vivo S50 Pro mini phone, it is available in white, purple and black colors, at a price starting from 3699 yuan for the 12/256 GB version, and reaching 4299 yuan for the 16/512 GB version.
Vivo opens the door for pre-order for both phones through its official store, with deliveries starting on Friday, December 19.
