The center and city of Maragha in Sohag Governorate witnessed an incident in which a security car fell into the Nile River from the top of the Maragha ferry, resulting in the recovery of the body of a woman, while river rescue forces continue their intensive efforts to find two of her grandchildren who were with her.

Major General Dr. Hassan Abdel Aziz, Assistant Minister of the Interior and Director of Sohag Security, received notification that a car had fallen into the Nile River from the top of the Maragha Ferry in the Central District. Police forces and river rescue units were immediately dispatched to the site of the accident.
Upon moving and examining, it was found that a car carrying a woman and her two grandchildren had fallen into the waters of the Nile while they were heading for a medical examination, where the woman’s body was recovered, while rescue teams intensified their efforts to search for the two children.
The necessary report on the incident was prepared, and the investigating authorities were notified to initiate investigations, while search and combing work continued in the area surrounding the incident.
