Dr. Jamal Sayed Ahmed, Director General of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate, said In AssiutThe Directorate continues its intensive efforts within government slaughterhouses to ensure the safety of meat put on the market through precise checks that protect consumers from any health risks.

He added that a veterinary committee was formed at the Sahel Selim slaughterhouse, which included Dr. Shahir Jamil, head of the Public Health and Abattoirs Department of the Sahel Selim administration, Dr. Sherif Romani, director of the Sahel Selim slaughterhouse, and Dr. Wassef Halim, the insurance doctor, where a decision was made to completely kill a male sheep because it was not fit for human consumption, in accordance with approved veterinary standards and to preserve public health and the safety of citizens.

In the same context, Dr. Abdullah Ali Mahmoud, Directorate of Slaughterhouses and Meat Inspection in the Directorate, made an inspection tour of the Alexandria El Tahrir slaughterhouse in Bandar Assiut, to follow up on the progress of work and ensure compliance with the application of health and veterinary requirements.

Dr. Jamal Sayed Ahmed stressed that these control efforts are not just routine procedures, but rather a message of reassurance that the directorate carries to every citizen, confirming that the food that reaches their tables is safe and sound. He explained that veterinary medicine teams work in a spirit of dedication and responsibility, based on science, experience and careful oversight, to embody their role as a protective shield that protects human health and reflects the state’s keenness to maintain food security for society.
