Dr. Jamal Sayed Ahmed, Director General of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate, said In AssiutAs part of its concern for citizen health and the protection of markets, the Directorate is intensifying its efforts through daily awareness and monitoring campaigns, aiming to ensure the arrival of safe and sound food, and to enhance health and veterinary awareness among various segments of society.

Continuous monitoring of the markets

Dr. Jamal Sayed Ahmed – Director General of the Directorate – confirmed that veterinary inspection inside slaughterhouses and continuous monitoring of markets together represent the first line of defense for citizen health, as examination before and after slaughter allows the exclusion of unfit meat, while daily monitoring campaigns ensure the control of violating products and preventing the circulation of any food that threatens public health. He explained that these integrated efforts reflect a national responsibility to protect the consumer and enhance confidence in traded food.

He explained: The Al-Ghanaim Veterinary Administration continued its oversight efforts through intensive field follow-ups on stores selling meat, poultry and frozen products, to ensure their suitability and compliance with health specifications, and to control any violations that may threaten the consumer. These daily campaigns come as part of the directorate’s plan to ensure safe food reaches citizens.

Control is intensified during the holy month of Ramadan due to the increase in consumption rates and the diversity of food products. Veterinary campaigns are intensified in markets and stores to ensure the safety of meat, poultry, and frozen products, and to prevent any violations that may affect citizen health during this season.
