Nermin Al-Desouki, the granddaughter of Mrs. Umm Kulthum, spoke about her feelings before watching the film, saying: I was interested that the film did not insult the symbol of Umm Kulthum, especially since the film is not a biography but rather based on real events. She stressed that she does not like to express preconceived opinions about works of art before watching them.
Nermin also praised the music in the film, during television statements, stressing that it was very distinctive: The intelligence in dealing with the film’s subject matter was remarkable, and appeared through a deep analysis of Umm Kulthum’s character, which made the film appear in a clear and realistic manner.
At the end of her speech, Nermin talked about her meeting with the star Mona Zaki at the special screening of the film, where she thanked her for the wonderful performance and the great effort she made, saying: Thank you for your performance, and I am truly very happy, and frankly, after the criticism I was subjected to, I told her: You will sleep comfortably today after the audience saw the film and praised it.
