Hisham Al-Zuhairi, the House of Representatives candidate for the Toukh Waqa district of the Hamat al-Watan Party in Qalyubia Governorate, announced today his official withdrawal from the run-off round of the electoral process, stressing that he is out of the electoral race but continues to serve the people of the district.

Al-Zuhairi said, during a video broadcast on his official page on the social networking site Facebook, that he was surprised since this morning by the crowd of citizens in front of the electoral committees, and the presence of a number of electoral violations.

He explained that for five years he had been working to serve the people of the district, noting that the total votes in the first round reached 63,000 votes distributed among 11 candidates, while the vote tally in the runoff reached 48,000 votes for only the first candidate out of 4 candidates, wondering about the reasons for this difference.

Al-Zuhairi pointed out that there were serious violations, stressing that he had reported these violations.

Al-Zuhairi confirmed that he continues to serve the people of Toukh Waqa despite his withdrawal from the elections, but he refused – as he described it – to reach Parliament through a path other than the people’s exit and electing him in an honorable manner without violations.
