The Israeli newspaper Maariv reported that the Israeli Air Force Commander will accompany Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on his upcoming visit to the United States, in a move described as reflecting the importance that Israel attaches to the security file during this visit.
The newspaper quoted an Israeli official as saying that there is a growing fear in Tel Aviv of reaching an agreement between Washington and Tehran that does not meet Israeli security requirements, and may leave what he described as existing threats unaddressed.
The Israeli position rejects any settlement with Iran
According to the source, accompanying the Air Force Commander comes within the framework of emphasizing the Israeli position rejecting any settlement with Iran that does not include clear guarantees related to its nuclear program and military capabilities, in addition to its regional activity.
The report indicated that the visit will witness intense discussions on regional developments, most notably the Iranian file, in light of American efforts to revive a negotiating track with Tehran.
In a related context, Israeli Channel 15 claimed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will leave on Wednesday for a visit to Washington to meet with US President Donald Trump.
According to the channel, the visit comes amid a clear escalation and tension regarding the Iranian file, in addition to some of the ambiguities that dominate the second phase of the Gaza file, and some other issues at the regional and international levels.
