Producer Hamada Ismail presents his first Syrian play as part of the Riyadh Season activities, through the theatrical show “Ghee on Asal,” which is shown at the Muhammad Al-Ali Theater on the Boulevard, daily from Tuesday, February 3, until Saturday, February 7.
The play is considered a new and important step in Hamada Ismail’s theatrical career, after the successes he achieved in previous seasons through remarkable public performances. This year, he continues to present a different experience that sheds light on the Syrian theater within the largest entertainment event in the region.
Ghee on honey play
The lead role in Semn Ali Asal is the Syrian star Moatasem Al-Nahar and the star Jumana Murad, along with Ahmed Abdel Wahab, Shukran Murtaja, Fouad Yameen, Ayman Reda, and Sarah Baraka, in a work that belongs to the light comedy, and relies on funny situations and unexpected interactions. The play is written by the great Syrian writer Mamdouh Hamada, directed by Batoul Arafa, and produced by Hamada Ismail, with general supervision by Ahmed Ismail.
The events of Ghee on Asal take place in a light comedic context, where fates intertwine in a surprising way, putting Burhan, played by Moatasem Al-Nahar, a quiet and introverted young man, in direct confrontation with Hala, presented by Jumana Murad, who is escaping from a murder. The two find themselves in a whirlpool of strange situations, among even more strange characters, in which coincidence plays a pivotal role that changes the course of everyone’s lives.
Producer Hamada Ismail
It is noteworthy that producer Hamada Ismail was able, during the previous Riyadh seasons, to achieve remarkable theatrical milestones, as he returned the great artist Esaad Younis to the stage after an absence of 30 years, through the play SS Hanem that he produced, which co-starred Haggag Abdel Azim, Karim Afifi, Mirna Jamil, and Muhammad Tharwat, and it was written by Nouran Nassar and directed by Khaled Jalal.
Hamada Ismail also succeeded in attracting star Menna Shalabi to participate in her first theatrical experience through the play Sun and Moon, which he co-starred with Bayoumi Fouad, as part of the Riyadh Season activities, thereby confirming his presence as one of the most prominent producers who bet on various theatrical experiences and combine stardom with innovation.
