​I registered a contest Port Said The International for Memorizing the Holy Qur’an and Religious Invocation was an exceptional event in its current edition, as two of the province’s buds succeeded in reaching the final local competitions qualifying for the international ones, amid widespread praise for their persistence and unyielding determination.

​Shine Racer Marwan Salem Abdel Fattah – 14 years old, a student at the Salem Abdel Hadi Institute, and his colleague Mohamed Abdullah Ahmed – 16 years old, a student at the Al-Zohour Model Institute, snatched their seats in the final qualifiers for international representation. The two champions showed an unparalleled fighting spirit and determination during the qualifying stages, which reflects the quality of Al-Azhari education in the governorate and the keenness of these young people to raise the name of Port Said in major Quranic forums.

Port Said Governorate is preparing to bring down the curtain on the local competitions today, in preparation for the launch of the major international edition on January 30, 2026, under the patronage of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, with the full support of Major General Moheb Habashi, Governor of Port Said, and the supervision of Dr. Amr Othman, Deputy Governor, and the journalist Adel Moselhi, Executive Director of the competition.

​The ninth edition, which bears the name of the late reciter Sheikh Mahmoud Ali Al-Banna, witnesses a huge participation that includes 32 countries represented by 42 contestants from around the world, all competing under the supervision of arbitration committees that include an elite group of senior Al-Azhar scholars and legends of religious chanting.

​The journalist, Adel Moselhi, the executive director of the competition, explained that the final rounds will officially decide the names of the finalists tomorrow, with the first-place finisher from each section being promoted to represent Egypt internationally. Moselhi pointed out that the competition is not just a competition in memorization, but rather a cultural and tourism event, as it includes promotional tours to stimulate tourism in Port Said, and two large opening and closing ceremonies that will be broadcast on Egyptian television.

The launch of the activities coincides with the broadcast of Friday prayers from the heart of Port Said to celebrate this global event, in the presence of high-level ministers and senior officials.
