Witnessing cities and governorate centers New ValleyToday, Monday, February 23, 2026, there is a state of noticeable discipline in the markets, amid a clear abundance in the supply of basic food commodities, which reflected positively on the buying and selling movement and satisfaction among citizens, especially with the intensification of food supply control and the availability of alternatives for consumers at various outlets.

This stability comes in light of the continuous field follow-up by the executive bodies, in coordination with the supply and veterinary directorates and local units, to control the markets and prevent any violations or monopolistic practices, while pushing additional quantities of goods into consumer complexes and government outlets, as well as supporting mobile outlets that roam villages and remote areas.

A tour of a number of markets observed a clear balance in the prices of dry goods and legumes, as a kilo of beans recorded 60 pounds, a kilo of yellow lentils recorded 50 pounds, while the price of a kilo of flour reached 23 pounds, the price of large tea reached 50 pounds, the price of a large bag of salt reached 27 pounds, and tuna products recorded prices ranging between 85 and 100 pounds.

In the meat and poultry sector, the price of a kilo of local meat ranged between 300 and 320 pounds, while a kilo of white poultry ranged from 80 to 100 pounds, given the availability of the quantities offered. As for dairy prices, the price of a kilo of white cheese ranged from 73 to 80 pounds, and a 500-gram white cheese reached about 50 pounds, while the price of a carton of eggs reached about 130 pounds.

As for oils and ghee, prices stabilized at 60 pounds for a liter bottle of oil, 70 pounds for ghee weighing 1 kilo, and 135 pounds for ghee weighing 2 kilos. A 10-kg bag of rice was 225 pounds, and a 25-kg bag was 520 pounds, while the price of a 10-kg bag of pasta was 185 pounds, and a carton of pasta was 125 pounds.

A number of citizens confirmed that the diversity of supply within official outlets contributed to achieving fair competition and relative price control, while merchants pointed out that increasing supplies helped stabilize the market and reduce the severity of fluctuations.

The governorate continues its efforts to strengthen the food security system by expanding seasonal exhibitions and encouraging local producers, in order to ensure sustainable stability and achieve a permanent balance between supply and demand in various centers.
