Dr. Gamal Sayed Ahmed, Director General of the Veterinary Medicine Directorate in Assiut, said that within the framework of the state’s keenness to enhance public health, the Veterinary Medicine Directorate in Assiut Governorate intensifies Assiut Its efforts to address diseases shared between humans and animals, which are among the most prominent health and environmental challenges in rural and urban communities alike.
Field interventions and awareness programs
These efforts include an integrated plan that combines field interventions and awareness programs, with the aim of reducing the spread of diseases and protecting citizens, stressing that common diseases represent a double danger to humans and animals, and that prevention begins with spreading community awareness of ways to properly deal with animals, in addition to implementing vaccination programmes, early monitoring and rapid intervention when any case is suspected.
Rabies is at the forefront of these diseases, due to the seriousness of its transmission and the rapid impact it has on public health. The Directorate pays special attention to confronting it through field campaigns that include safe keeping of dogs, vaccination, numbering, and surgical sterilization, in addition to guidance seminars presented in simple language to explain the methods of transmission of the disease and its symptoms, while emphasizing the importance of immediate reporting and medical intervention when any case of contracting or infection occurs.
These efforts reflect an integrated vision to build a more aware and responsible society, where dealing with animals becomes part of a healthy, sustainable culture that enhances the values of compassion and environmental awareness, and opens the way towards a safer and more reassuring future for future generations.
