Torop resolves Imam Ashour’s position on returning to Al-Ahly’s list

Cairo 24 learned that Danish coach Jes Torop, Al-Ahly’s technical director, includes Imam Ashour in Al-Ahly’s roster that will face the Royal Army at the end of the group stage of the African Champions League.

The source explained that the large number of absences in Al-Ahly’s ranks is the reason behind the coach’s decision to return Imam Ashour to the list, after his absence during the last period in implementation of the suspension penalty.

Torop talks about the crisis of Imam Ashour

Torop spoke about the Imam Ashour crisis in the press conference for the Royal Army match, saying: What happened in the past must remain in the past. Imam made a mistake and was punished and accepted the punishment. He trained individually very well for two weeks. He was with the team yesterday and I spoke to him and told him that we must learn from our mistakes and what is important now is to look forward and to the future.

Yess Torop concluded his statements regarding Imam Ashour’s position on tomorrow’s match: He participated normally like the rest of his teammates and let’s see what happens tomorrow…and we must not forget that he is a very big player, and if he made a mistake, then he learned.

Walid Salah El-Din, director of football at Al-Ahly club, decided to punish Imam Ashour by suspending him and training alone for two weeks, due to his failure to travel with the team to Tanzania to face Young Africans in the African Champions League.
