Muhammad Gibran received, Minister of LabourToday, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, a high-level delegation from the international German company Leoni Egypt, which specializes in manufacturing automobile cables and braids, came within the framework of enhancing joint cooperation in the fields of employment, training, providing job opportunities, and supporting investment, in line with the directions of the Egyptian state and the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Labor and Leoni Egypt agree to train and qualify workers for the automobile market

The meeting discussed ways to expand cooperation between the Ministry and the company, especially in the areas of vocational training and qualification of technical workers according to the needs of the labor market, supporting serious industrial expansions, and providing new employment opportunities for young people.

The meeting resulted in an agreement to hold a conference within Leoni Egypt to raise awareness of the provisions of the new labor law, spread a culture of rights and duties, and promote a safe and stable work environment within production sites.

It was also agreed to provide 400 job opportunities for assembly technicians in the company’s two branches in Nasr City and Badr City, in addition to providing 3,000 new job opportunities in the field of car braid manufacturing following the opening of the company’s new industrial complex in Rubiki City within a year, with the signing of a cooperation protocol to train and qualify the required workers according to the company’s actual needs.

The two sides agreed to begin transferring the necessary machinery and equipment from Leoni Company to the Hijaz Training Center affiliated with the Ministry of Labor, to begin training young people practically in the professions and specializations needed by the company, which will contribute to linking the training directly to the labor market.

The Minister of Labor stressed the state’s keenness to encourage local and foreign investment, overcome any obstacles facing investors, and support industrial expansions that contribute to increasing production and providing job opportunities, stressing the importance of cooperation in employing and integrating people of determination into the labor market in implementation of the directives of the political leadership.

The Minister also stressed the need to support vocational training programs and link them to the needs of the actual labor market, especially in strategic industrial sectors, praising the size of Leoni’s investments in Egypt, and its role spanning more than 25 years in supporting the national industry and promoting exports that exceeded 100 million euros annually.

For their part, the delegation from Leoni Egypt praised the investment climate in Egypt and the major national projects, and the efforts of the Ministry of Labor in developing the vocational training system and strengthening working relations between the two parties of production, stressing the company’s keenness to continue cooperation with the Ministry during the next stage in various common fields.

Leoni Egypt is one of the major international industrial entities operating in Egypt, as it owns 14 factories in a number of governorates, employs about 5,800 highly trained workers, and contributes effectively to supporting the national industry and increasing exports.

The company delegation included Engineer Sherif El-Desouki, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Leoni Egypt, Ahmed Shafiq, Member of the Board of Directors for Finance, Mamdouh Fahmy, Head of the Human Resources Sector, and Hisham Al-Sabbagh, Member of the Board of Directors for Government Affairs.
