Iranian television reported that Tehran informed Washington of its rejection of any talk about stopping uranium enrichment completely, stressing that this issue is non-negotiable.
The upcoming Geneva talks between Iran and the United States
Iranian television explained that the upcoming Geneva talks between Iran and the United States will focus exclusively on the nuclear program and lifting sanctions, without touching on other files.
State television added that the Iranian delegation will head to Geneva this evening to participate in a new round of indirect talks with the American side, within the framework of a negotiating process that resumed earlier this month of February, to address a decades-long dispute between the two countries, especially regarding the Iranian nuclear program, amid efforts to avoid a new military escalation in the region.
In return, the United States strengthened its military presence by sending a second aircraft carrier to the region, in a move that reflects its readiness to potentially launch a large-scale military campaign if negotiations fail.
An American delegation, including envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, is scheduled to meet Iranian officials in Geneva next Tuesday, to resume a new round of negotiations on the nuclear issue and lift sanctions.
