The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation revealed that the General Authority for Veterinary Services continues to intensify inspection and control campaigns on places for displaying, selling and trading salted and smoked fish and fish under processing in various governorates of the Republic, as part of the state’s efforts to protect the health of citizens and ensure food safety.
This comes in implementation of the directives and instructions of Alaa Farouk Wazir Agriculture And land reclamation, by intensifying control and inspection efforts on all products of animal origin, as well as fish, especially in conjunction with the Spring and Sham El-Nessim celebrations and increasing demand for salted and smoked fish.
Dr. Hamid Al-Aqnas, head of the General Authority for Veterinary Services, said that the campaigns carried out by the veterinary directorates in all governorates during the past week resulted in the seizure of 71 tons and 632 kg of unsuitable salted and smoked fish, with 177 reports issued and the necessary legal measures taken against violators.
He stressed that the Authority will continue to implement intensive campaigns in coordination with the concerned authorities, especially with the tightening of control over markets, to control any violations related to food safety.
The Ministry of Agriculture called on citizens to be careful and ensure the quality of products before purchasing them, and to immediately report any violations via the hotline of the General Authority for Veterinary Services at 19561, around the clock, to ensure a rapid response that protects public health.
