According to a White House statement, today, President Trump signed an executive order directing the Secretary of State and Secretary of the Treasury to consider whether certain branches of the Muslim Brotherhood should be designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs) and Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGTs).

The order directs the two above-mentioned Secretaries, in consultation with the Attorney General and the Director of National Intelligence, to report on whether any Muslim Brotherhood affiliates such as those in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan should be designated as foreign terrorist organizations under Section 1189 of Title 8 of the United States Code (8 USC 1189), and as SDGTs under Section 1702 of Title 50 of the United States Code (50 USC 1702) and Executive Order 13224, in accordance with For the statement.
