A number of residents in the village of Sankar confirmed to Cairo 24 that the situation has become catastrophic by all standards, in light of the absence of rapid intervention from the concerned authorities, noting that the area has long suffered from neglect in maintenance and cleaning work, without radical solutions so far.
Saeed Marjawi, a resident of the village, said that the fallen lighting poles in the streets have turned into death traps, especially with the presence of electrical current in them, which puts the lives of passersby in danger at any moment, calling for immediate action before a humanitarian disaster occurs.
Another added that the accumulation of garbage, the spread of insects, and unpleasant odors increase the suffering of the people and threaten the spread of diseases, stressing that the repeated complaints have not received a response so far.
Mustafa Mahmoud, a resident of the village, pointed out that children pass by these electrified poles every day while going to school, which raises a state of anxiety and terror among families, demanding that the poles be quickly removed and the lighting network maintained, in addition to improving the level of cleanliness inside the estate.
Mustafa concluded their call for help with a clear message to officials: How long will the silence last? How long will the people of Ezbet Sankar tolerate this neglect? We demand immediate action and saving the lives of citizens before it is too late.
He called on the executive authorities in Fayoum Governorate and the presidency of the local unit to quickly inspect the ground and take urgent measures to resolve the crisis, in order to preserve the lives of citizens and achieve the minimum level of safety and services within the village.
