The executive agencies in Alexandria, represented by the governorate’s districts, the sanitation company, and the governorate’s operations room, have raised the state of alert in preparation for the wave of rain that was reported by the Meteorological Authority and is expected to hit the governorate starting this Saturday afternoon.

For its part, the Alexandria Sanitation Company has begun measures to confront weather fluctuations in all its sectors, to immediately deal with any repercussions resulting from weather fluctuations, and to ensure the continued efficiency of the sewage networks.

The company also sent a large number of cars, pedalos, and water-lifting equipment, with work teams deployed in the field in areas most vulnerable to water accumulations, to ensure rapid intervention and dealing with any emergency.

While the sanitation company decided to stop vacations and rest allowances for all workers in the emergency and employment sectors, as well as continuing the work of disinfecting drains and fittings, and reducing septic tank levels, in addition to continuous monitoring of drain levels.

For his part, Engineer Sami Kandil, head of the Alexandria Sanitation Company, confirmed in a press statement that emergency teams are deployed 24 hours a day, with all relevant leaders present in the field to follow up on the situation and deal immediately with any water accumulations or reports received from citizens.

The head of the sanitation company added that hotline 175 has been designated to receive complaints and reports from citizens around the clock, stressing the speed of response and dealing with any emergency in various areas of the governorate, calling on citizens to be careful during periods of weather fluctuations, and to avoid throwing waste in the streets or inside rain gutters, as it causes blockage of networks and disrupts the efficiency of water drainage.
