The writer, Mr. Hafez, appealed to the concerned authorities to intervene to treat the artist Sami Abdel Halim, after his health condition deteriorated during the recent period, as a result of a stroke in the brain, which affected movement and speech.
Mr. Hafez wrote, via his Facebook account: The distinguished artist Dr. Sami Abdel Halim, one of the symbols of authentic Egyptian theatre, through whose hands generations of artists and creators who contributed to building Egyptian theater and art over decades, is now going through a critical health crisis after suffering a stroke. He is currently staying at the French Kasr Aini Hospital (New Hospital), where he has been transferred to the intensive care unit.
He added: His condition still requires intensive medical care and close follow-up, with an urgent need for continuous physical therapy and rehabilitation sessions to restore movement and the ability to speak, in addition to suffering from problems related to diabetes that affect his peripheral nerves.
He continued: We ask the health care authorities to provide the full medical support and intensive care required, whether inside Egypt or through any advanced treatment capabilities if necessary (such as stem cell therapy or specialized rehabilitation abroad).
On the other hand, Dr. Ashraf Zaki, head of the Acting Professions Syndicate, previously responded to the artist Sami Abdel Halim, after he stated that he needed to travel outside the country as a result of his exposure to a health problem that led to him staying away from art for a long time.
Ashraf Zaki said, in a statement to Cairo 24, that he will cover all expenses related to the artist Sami Abdel Halim’s travel outside the country, indicating that the union is ready to take the necessary action.
