The Indonesian Search and Rescue Agency announced that the bodies of all passengers on a fishing surveillance plane that had gone missing at the beginning of this week had been found in South Sulawesi province.

The agency reported that the plane, an ATR 42-500 owned by the Indonesia Air Transport Group, lost contact with the control tower last Saturday at 1:30 pm local time, while flying in the vicinity of the Maros region.

On board the plane was a crew of seven and three passengers, employees of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, which had chartered the plane to carry out an aerial fisheries surveillance mission.

Rescue teams found the bodies

Andy Sultan, an official at the South Sulawesi Search and Rescue Agency, said in a video statement that rescue teams found the ninth and tenth bodies early Friday morning, confirming that all those on board the plane had been recovered.

The agency stated through its official account on the Instagram platform that the number of victims reached ten people, noting that searches previously resulted in finding the wreckage of the plane in various locations around Mount Bulusaraung in the Maros region, located about 1,500 kilometers northeast of the capital, Jakarta.

The authorities confirmed that investigations are still underway to determine the causes of the accident.
