He looks forward Morocco national team To end his historic contract against the Cameroon national team, as the two teams meet tomorrow, Friday, in a strong confrontation in the quarter-finals of the 2025 African Cup of Nations, which will be held on Moroccan soil, at the Moulay Abdullah Stadium in Rabat.

Morocco seeks to break the Cameroon knot and reach the semi-finals of the African Nations after an absence of 22 years

The Atlas Lions team hopes to continue its successful journey in the tournament and reach the semi-finals for the first time in nearly 22 years, after its only victory in 1976 in Ethiopia, in addition to being a new step closer to achieving the second continental title in its history.

The Moroccan team began its tournament campaign by defeating Comoros with two unanswered goals in the opening match, before drawing with Mali (1-1), then achieving a broad victory over Zambia by three clean goals, to lead Group A with 7 points.

Morocco recorded its fifth appearance in the quarter-finals in the history of its participation, after the 1998, 2004, 2017 and 2021 editions, following its difficult victory over Tanzania with an unanswered goal in the round of 16, setting a date with Cameroon.

On the other hand, the Cameroon national team, which holds five African Nations titles, confirmed its strong presence as a prominent contender for the title, after finishing second in Group Six with 7 points, following its wins over Gabon and Mozambique, and its draw with Côte d’Ivoire, the defending champion.

The Lions qualified for the quarter-finals for the 11th time in their history, after defeating South Africa 2-1 in the round of 16, continuing their strong record in the tournament’s knockout rounds.

This is the fourth confrontation between Morocco and Cameroon in the history of the African Cup of Nations, as the Moroccan team did not succeed in achieving any previous victory, as Cameroon won two matches, while one confrontation ended in a draw.

The first confrontation between the two teams in the tournament dates back to the 1986 edition in Egypt, and ended in a draw (1-1), while Cameroon achieved victory in the semi-finals of the 1988 edition held in Morocco, and then repeated its superiority in the opening of the 1992 edition in Senegal.

In terms of numbers, the two teams met in 13 previous matches in all competitions, during which Cameroon achieved 7 victories compared to only two victories for Morocco, while 4 matches were decided in draws.

The Moroccan national team is counting on the brilliance of its star Ibrahim Diaz, who aspires to continue his scoring hobby after scoring in all four of Morocco’s matches in the current edition, topping the scorers list with 4 goals, ahead of Ayoub El Kaabi, who scored three goals.

While the Cameroon national team has a distinguished record against the hosts of the tournament, as it has not suffered any defeat in the last six matches it played against the hosts, and it also has great experience in the knockout stages, as it achieved 22 victories out of 34 knockout matches.

The winner of this match is scheduled to face the winner of the match between Nigeria and Algeria in the semi-finals next Wednesday.
