The executive authorities in the Suez Governorate announced today, Monday, the lifting of the state of preparedness and emergency in most areas of the Al-Janain neighborhood, in conjunction with the implementation of technical works that require cutting off drinking water in a number of areas for a period of 12 hours.
Cutting off drinking water in Suez
A source told Cairo 24 that full coordination has been made with the Holding Company for Potable Water and Sanitation in the Suez Sector to provide drinking water trucks in the areas to which service will be completely cut off, as well as the areas that will be affected by poor water, until the ongoing work is completed and pumping returns normally.
The source explained that Major General Dr. Tariq Hamid Al-Shazly, Governor of Suez, directed immediate coordination with the National Emergency and Public Safety Network and all services directorates, to ensure rapid handling of any emergency, and to secure the water needs of medical centers, hospitals, vital facilities, and bakeries throughout the work period, while emphasizing the speedy completion of implementation on time without delay.
The Holding Company for Potable Water and Sanitation for the Suez Sector is implementing the work of connecting the existing drinking water lines that conflict with the work of connecting the crossing roads in the Suez Governorate (the second phase), on the Suez-Ismailia desert road. The works include connecting the expulsion water line of the new Abu Aref water station to feed the El-Ganayen sector up to the tunnel area, in addition to changing the existing valves on the El-Ganayen water networks.
These works require stopping the new Abu Arif drinking water station from operating and cutting off the water for 12 hours, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m., to complete the connection work and change the valves.
The areas affected by the water outage include: Omar Bin Al-Khattab area, the old dairy, Kafr Houda, the entire Abu Arif area (the railway road – Zarqan), Amer West village, Al-Batrawi, K46, Ard Handal, Abu Turk, Al-Omda, Abu Sial area, the tunnel, and all vital areas on the Suez – Ismailia desert road.
As for the areas affected by the lack of water, they are: the new dairy village, the village of Muhammad Abdo, the automated slaughterhouse, the village of Al-Raed, the project area, Jabaliyat Al-Far, Abu Arif, the canal road to the area of Amer village, east, west of the canal, Sakkat Al-Banna, Al-Hasani.
