
He met Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad, and Mohamed Ali El-Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tunisians Abroad, yesterday, Saturday, on the sidelines of the extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation held in Jeddah.
During the meeting, Minister Abdel Ati stressed the keenness to continue joint work to raise the level of bilateral relations in various fields, based on the historical ties of brotherhood that unite the two brotherly countries, and in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples and supports joint Arab and African action. In this context, he praised the holding of the eighteenth session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Joint Higher Committee in September 2025 in Cairo, and the outcomes that resulted from it, noting the necessity of maintaining its regularity to enhance economic, trade and investment cooperation in a way that meets the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples.
Regarding developments in the region, the meeting discussed a number of regional files, including developments in Libya, where Minister Abdel Ati stressed the importance of concerted efforts to reach a comprehensive political settlement under Libyan leadership, leading to the simultaneous holding of presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible, and the exit of all foreign forces, foreign fighters and mercenaries from Libyan territory, which contributes to achieving stability and security in Libya and the region, stressing Egypt’s support for the unity and territorial integrity of Libya. He also stressed the importance of maintaining the regularity of meetings of the Libya Neighboring Countries Mechanism between Egypt, Tunisia and Algeria, expressing his aspiration for holding the next meeting of the mechanism.
