60 days until Ramadan.. The Fatwa is looking for the crescent of the month of Rajab today
The Fatwa said through its account on the social networking site Facebook: We are looking for the crescent of the month of Rajab, next Saturday, the 29th of Jumada al-Akhirah 1447 AH, corresponding to December 20, 2025 AD. We ask God Almighty to make it a month of goodness and blessings, and to inform us of the seasons of obedience with reassured hearts.
Earlier, the Egyptian Fatwa House answered a question received from one of its followers, which read: Is celebrating New Year’s, with the aspects of celebration it includes, such as hanging decorations, forbidden according to Islamic law or permissible? What is the ruling on congratulating Christians on this day? How do we respond to those who claim that this is forbidden? Because it involves non-Muslims participating in their holidays and rituals? Or claiming that the day of birth only came once; Is it different from its counterpart every year? Or on the grounds that the birth of Christ, peace be upon him, was not on New Year’s Day?
The Fatwa said on its website: Celebrating the New Year, which dates to the birth of our Lord Christ, Jesus, son of Mary, upon our Prophet, peace be upon him, with the aspects of celebration and congratulations it includes: is permissible according to Sharia law, and there is no prohibition in it. Because it includes social, religious, and national goals that are respected by law and custom. Who remembers the blessings of God Almighty in the passing of time and the renewal of years. Sharia law has approved people’s holidays due to their need for recreation. Scholars have stipulated that it is permissible to exploit these seasons for good deeds, family ties, economic benefits, and community participation, and that the image of similarity does not harm if the good of the servants is attached to it, unless that requires affirming beliefs that contradict Islam.
