The Xiaomi 18 is expected to move away from its predecessor’s design in a crucial area. Surprisingly, Xiaomi’s upcoming compact flagship phone may look more similar to recent iPhone Pro phones than the current iPhone 17.

The launch of the Xiaomi 18 series is still believed to be around seven months away. As it stands, the Xiaomi 18, Xiaomi 18 Pro, and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max are expected to be launched in September. Currently, it is also believed that the trio will be among the first smartphones to ship with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series chipset.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max are reportedly candidates to get the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro as well. In contrast, the Xiaomi 18 is rumored to be the only one of the three to benefit from Qualcomm’s standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor. Not only that, but a new rumor from a widely appreciated Weibo user suggests that the Xiaomi 18 will also move away from the design of its predecessor, particularly with a larger screen.

The revised camera design, embedded below, is reminiscent of the design Apple maintained between the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro (current price $696 – refurbished on Amazon). It should be noted that the displayed design is not official. Instead, it was likely Photoshopped or created by artificial intelligence. However, the displayed design may be correct. Presumably we won’t know for sure until the summer at the earliest.
