After Sony’s decision to place the Bravia TV brand under TCL’s management raised some concern among Xperia phone fans, the company came out to put an end to these concerns.

During the recent earnings call, Lin Tao, CEO and Vice President of Finance of Sony, confirmed that there is no change in the status of Xperia phones, in a clear indication that the series will continue unaffected.

In the same context, the Japanese S-Max website, after searching the GSMA database for IMEI numbers, revealed the official registration of the Xperia 1 VIII and Xperia 10 VIII models, which reinforces the imminence of the launch of the new generation.

On the other hand, the Xperia 5 series continues to be absent for the third year in a row, after its last release was the Xperia 5 V in September 2023.

The IMEI database does not provide additional technical details, except to indicate that the two phones will come with a single nano-SIM chip in addition to eSIM support.

Until now, Sony has not officially announced the reveal date or specifications, but as usual, the company prefers to launch its phones according to its own schedule without fixed dates.
