Journalist Ahmed Schubert spoke about Al-Ahly’s next formation against Al-Ismaily and the luck of Egyptian goalkeepers in foreign professionalism, specifically in Europe.

Belamri and El-Shenawy were the most prominent attendees in front of Al-Ismaily

Schubert said during radio statements: Al-Ahly’s list for the Ismaily match will include the presence of Youssef Belamri and Mohamed El-Shenawy, and there will be at least 3 changes in the formation.

He continued: “Al-Ahly players are well prepared for the Ismaily match, and they are happy with their qualification to the second round of the African Champions League, and they are sad about the audience’s reaction to the performance because they saw that they were in a difficult task against Shabab Kabylie.”

Egyptian goalkeepers between talent and bad luck

Schubert added that Egyptian goalkeepers suffer from bad luck in foreign professionalism despite having great talent, adding: “I remember that I had an offer from Everton of England and I signed the contract, but the complications of the work permit prevented me from completing the experience.”

Successful and incomplete experiences

Schubert continued: “There are many examples, such as Nader El-Sayed, who shined in Belgium and had a good season before moving to Greece, but his experience there was not successful, so he was forced to return to Egypt, and Essam El-Hadary, who won a cup with the Swiss team Sion, and he could have continued but was in a hurry to return to Egypt, and also Sherif Ekramy, who had an experience with the Dutch Feyenoord and played well, but felt frustrated due to his lack of participation.”

The difference between Egyptian and African goalkeepers in European professionalism

Schubert attributed the difference between Egyptian and African goalkeepers to the fact that African goalkeepers are more fortunate in Europe, because they start young and do not mind playing in small clubs or sitting on the bench, which gives them more experience.
