A new report stated that the production of the foldable iPhone Fold is behind the initial schedule, although the device is still scheduled to be launched in the fall of 2026. The report explained that the production process has been postponed for approximately one to two months, but Apple did not inform its suppliers of any delays in the official launch date, which means resorting to a more stringent production schedule. It was planned to start mass production of the phone in June 2026, but it has now been postponed to early August, amid rumors indicating that Apple is facing more manufacturing problems than expected in the engineering verification testing phase that the phone is currently undergoing.
These developments come to reconcile conflicting rumors about the timing of the launch, as the Japanese Nikkei website indicated last week that engineering delays may push Apple to postpone the launch until 2027, while Mark confirmed that the phone is still on track for launch in September of 2026, coinciding with the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series of phones or shortly after. The DigiTimes report indicates that there is already a delay in the testing phase, but Apple may be able to make up for this lost time during the mass production phase, especially since the phone still needs to go through the design verification test and production verification test phases before actual manufacturing begins.
This delay in the mass production schedule may cause severe shortages in supply chains, which will likely significantly restrict the availability of the new phone in the market, as early rumors of delays usually lead to quantities running out within a few minutes during the pre-order period. It is expected that the price of this device will range between 2000 and 2500 US dollars to be the first foldable phone from Apple. It will come equipped with an external screen measuring 5.5 inches when closed, while it will provide a flexible internal screen measuring 7.8 inches when opened to provide a wide and advanced user experience in the world of foldable phones.
