Optoma has released its new UHZ36 4K Ultra HD laser projector in the US. This model is designed for the living room, with a laser light source and support for HDR technology. Other features include a built-in speaker, two HDMI ports, and image adjustment tools such as automatic keystone correction.
The Optoma UHZ36 laser projector was released in the United States. The new model is designed for everyday use at home, displaying images up to 300 inches wide on a wall or screen in your living room.
The UHZ36 is a DLP projector with a 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels) and a native aspect ratio of 16:9. The laser phosphor light source is said to provide a brightness of up to 3,500 ISO lumens, meaning the projector can be used in a daylit room. It has a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, wide RIC 709 color space coverage, support for High Dynamic Range technology and Movie Maker mode. The throw ratio is 1.21 to 1.59:1, and the model offers 1.3x manual zoom and automatic vertical correction for image keystone.
Optoma UHZ36 users will need to connect a streaming device like a Fire TV Stick (the 4K Plus version is currently available for $29.99 at Amazon), a phone or a laptop to access apps like Netflix and Disney+. Ports on the device include USB-A, RS232, and two HDMI 2.0 ports (one with ARC output), with an 8.5ms input delay at 1080p at 240Hz and auto low latency mode. There is also a built-in 15-watt speaker. It has dimensions of 274 x 215.5 x 101 mm and weighs 3.4 kg.
The Optoma UHZ36 is now available to order in the US for $1,299 at Amazon and B&H Photo. It is unclear if or when it will be released in Europe.
