Apple removed the traditional SIM port from the iPhone 17 Pro in the United States, which allowed it to provide additional internal space to install a slightly larger battery. On the other hand, this step was not implemented in the rest of the markets around the world.

According to a new report, Apple considered this experiment internally successful, so it plans to adopt the eSIM system only in all versions of the iPhone 18 globally. This step would enable the entire iPhone 18 series to benefit from larger batteries, instead of limiting the advantage to the American market only.

However, some markets where eSIM penetration is still limited may face challenges in adapting to this trend. Until now, it is not clear whether Apple will make special exceptions for some countries or apply the decision uniformly.

In the same context, the report indicates that the iPhone 18 Pro Max may come with a battery capacity ranging between 5100 and 5200 mAh. Although this capacity does not match what is offered by some Chinese phones based on silicon-carbon technologies, it represents a noticeable increase compared to previous generations.

Apple is expected to launch versions of the iPhone 18 Pro next September, coinciding with the unveiling of the upcoming iPhone Fold. As for the regular versions of the iPhone 18, they are likely to be postponed until March of the following year.

Other expected upgrades include reducing the size of the Dynamic Island, adopting a thicker and heavier design, along with a rear camera system with a variable aperture and improved sensors, as well as a 2nm A20 Pro processor from TSMC.
