Last November, Google launched Gemini integration within Google Maps for use while navigating by car, but now the feature has expanded to also include walking and cycling guidance.

With this update, Gemini turns into a personal walking guide, where the user can ask about the neighborhood he is in, the best restaurants nearby, or any other local information during the trip.

Meanwhile, Gemini relies on up-to-date and comprehensive Google Maps data to make appropriate suggestions along the route. As for cyclists, the feature is even more important thanks to the hands-free support, as the assistant can inform you of your expected arrival time, remind you of your upcoming appointments, and even send messages on your behalf.

Currently, this feature is gradually rolling out to iOS and Android devices in all regions where Gemini is available. However, as with regular Google updates, it may take some time for them to reach all users.
