The source explained in exclusive statements to Cairo 24 that Oscar Ruiz, Chairman of the Referees Committee, submitted a request to the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Football Association to cancel the water drinking break, in light of the moderate weather conditions during the current period, and the lack of technical or medical necessity for its implementation.
He added that the Football Association addressed the Professional Clubs Association with the decision, which in turn officially circulated it to the clubs today.
The source indicated that it was decided to leave the matter optional to the match referees, so that a water break can be implemented or not according to the referee’s discretion and the weather condition during the match.
The source concluded his statements by emphasizing that if temperatures rise again, the decision to take a water break will be recirculated in a way that suits the weather requirements and maintains the safety of the players.
