While Samsung has not yet rolled out the One UI 8.5 update widely, work on the One UI 9 appears to be progressing in parallel. A leak has appeared online indicating a new software feature for the upcoming custom interface based on Android 17.

The OneUI 8.5 update is currently in beta and is available for the Galaxy S25 lineup. The stable release is expected to debut with the Galaxy S26 series and be rolled out later to compatible devices. Now a new leak has emerged about the next major update: One UI 9.

According to a report from Sami Guru, the leaked builds of OneUI 9 point to new additions to Samsung Internet Browser. The browser is said to have a new built-in search bar with a floating design located near the bottom of the screen. It includes options such as search, AI access, recent tabs, and list.

A notable feature of the leak is the Ask AI feature, which allows users to ask questions about the currently open web page, without having to manually copy text into the chat interface. The source suggests that the feature processes page content as well as browsing history to provide personalized answers to users’ queries. It also gives users the option to store conversations for up to 6 months or not store them beyond the current session.

At the moment, there is no concrete timeline for the release of the One UI 9. However, it may launch with the successors to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 currently available for $1,649 on Amazon and the Z Flip 7, which are expected to be released in September. In separate news, the Galaxy A57 and Galaxy A37 have been approved by a regulatory body, indicating an imminent launch.
