After Sony announced the discontinuation of the PlayStation Stars program in May 2025, the company hinted that it was developing a new loyalty program.
Players previously earned points for their achievements and could redeem them for specific PS4/PS5 games or digital collectibles. Recently, the appearance of a listing for the Wallet Credits app on the PS Store has some players anticipating an announcement soon.
According to discussions on the PlayStation forum, the mysterious app page has recently appeared, and players can add it to their wishlist. As of now, the official release date for the Wallet Credits app has not been set.
Some users believe that the application may be an alternative to the PlayStation Stars program, especially since the current program will remain active until November 2026, but new players cannot register for it or collect points, which leaves a gap compared to the Microsoft Rewards program on the Xbox platform, while the PlayStation credit card provides similar benefits to its holders.

Players are also having difficulty sending gifts for PS5 games or subscriptions, which is available on competing platforms like the Xbox Games Store and Steam. It is expected that the new application will at least allow sending Wallet Credits to friends and family.
However, the goal of the app may be more specific and less exciting, as some players received mailers offering them $5 in free credit, and Sony referred to this offer as “Wallet Credit.”
It is reported that the PS Store faces some criticism related to the user experience, as search results are still full of low-quality games, and regional prices sometimes lead to high costs for buyers in some countries.
Even after the addition of a comparison feature for the lowest sale price over the past 30 days in October 2025, some critics argue that a new loyalty program to redeem PlayStation Stars will have a positive impact and encourage customers to return frequently to the store.
