Medhat Wahba, the official spokesman for the Anti-Water Fund, saidAddiction treatmentOne of the most prominent axes of the Fund’s work is the preventive aspect, as integrated activities are implemented to raise awareness of all age groups about the harms of smoking and narcotic substance abuse.

Wahba pointed out during television statements that the programs target children in schools and developed areas as an alternative to slums, through creative and attractive methods that include interactive games and theatrical performances, such as the “Shater in Art” show, which focuses on educating children about the harms of smoking and drugs.

He added that the Fund also provides awareness programs for young people to correct misconceptions about drug abuse. These programs are designed based on analysis of data from applicants for treatment through the hotline 16023, to determine the age groups most at risk and the most common types of drugs.

Wahba explained that families can recognize signs of abuse by their children through behavioral changes, deteriorating health, or the occurrence of cases of theft, stressing that the Fund provides family consultations and guidance to deal with cases of suspicion of abuse, including home visits for early detection.
