Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister, confirmed electricity And renewable energy, Egypt has made significant progress in the transition towards clean energy, targeting the contribution of renewable energy to reach 42% of the total electricity generated by 2030, and rising to 65% by 2040, through projects currently being implemented and others that have been contracted, in cooperation with the local and foreign private sector.

Minister of Electricity: We have achieved a big leap in clean energy with investments of 2 trillion pounds

During his speech at the Al-Ahram Energy Conference, the Minister pointed out the addition of electricity generation capacities of about 32 gigawatts, in addition to the construction of 25 transformer stations with a total capacity of 42.37 thousand megavolt amperes.

With regard to the transmission network, 5,610 km of electricity lines were extended, and the distribution network was developed to reach a length of 194,000 km, which enabled Egypt to move from a deficit of 6,000 megawatts to a reserve surplus of approximately 20,000 megawatts, with total investments amounting to about 2 trillion pounds.

The Minister explained that these achievements reflect the great efforts made by the state to enhance the stability of the electricity system and meet the needs of various economic sectors, in a way that supports sustainable development plans and places Egypt on the global clean energy map.
