Dr. Manal Awad held, Minister of Local Development The Acting Minister of the Environment held an expanded meeting with the ministry’s leaders to follow up on efforts to improve the industrial environment and sustainable energy, support digital transformation, and develop technical and engineering files.
Minister of Environment: Intensifying field follow-up and digital transformation to enhance environmental management and sustainable industries
During the meeting, the Minister of Local Development stressed the need to intensify field follow-up to ensure that industrial facilities adhere to environmental standards and requirements, in coordination with the Industrial Development Authority, and to provide technical support that achieves environmental compliance without affecting the progress of the production process.
It also emphasized preparing periodic reports on environmental performance indicators and linking them to future development plans, and encouraging the use of new and renewable energy sources to reduce traditional energy consumption and its negative effects, in addition to the importance of digital transformation in developing the environmental management system and improving follow-up of natural reserves, which contributes to more efficient and transparent environmental management.
During the meeting, the Minister listened to a comprehensive presentation on performance indicators for improving the industrial environment and energy efficiency, and the efforts of the Engineering Department in following up on environmental projects and technical supervision of infrastructure development in reserves and regional branches of the Ministry.
The discussion session also discussed the steps of digital transformation, including automating environmental work, developing databases, and linking them to performance indicators to enhance the speed of decision-making and accuracy of reports.
She stressed that these efforts come within the framework of an integrated vision aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens and achieving a balance between the requirements of development and environmental protection, in a way that enhances the competitiveness of the national economy and preserves natural resources for future generations.
