A majority of US Senators on Wednesday supported the military campaign launched by US President Donald Trump against Iran, as they voted against a Democratic-led resolution aimed at stopping the war until Congress authorized the start of hostilities.

The Republican-majority US Senate rejected the latest attempt by Democrats to stop President Donald Trump’s war in Iran, through a resolution that would have obligated the United States to withdraw its forces from the conflict until Congress authorized additional measures.
The Senate voted 52 to 47 against passing the war powers resolution, confirming his party’s continued support for the Republican president’s war policy more than six weeks after the United States and Israel launched air strikes on Iran.
Republicans say they will maintain confidence in Trump’s leadership during the war, for now, citing Iran’s nuclear capabilities and the serious risks of withdrawal.
